Before the Storm

My first picture done with the cintiq tablet. It is inspired by some beatifull places in the south england, on coast of the Sussex.

I've painted one old British flying boat, resting in some navy harbour. Now his best years are gone long time ago. It is the year 1937 and the machine is allready obsolete. It was build for the empire which is just at at the end of its existence. The picture is a little bit melancholic, but I hope somebody will like it.
Done in photoshop, the airplane proportion are based onthe simple 3d model. Then some painting in photoshop on tablet.

Time about 20-25 hours on evenings after work.

The Duel of Titans

Back on my favourite theme. Artwork for the game Empire. This one was my biggest and most complicated painting, so I hope It was worth the time spend I have finished this piece some year ago, but cant post it because the marketing policy.

It shows the Battle of Quiberon Bay near coast of France. The ship on the right is HMS Royal George, pride of the british navy with almost 900 souls on the board.The battle fas fought in late november so the weather was very bad. Ship on the left is french La Superbe, and this ship ended very bad at the end.

I painted the ships as they were, based on many historical resourcess: paintings, engravings and models. And of course a bit of my imagination. No other references were used.

As I said this was my biggest work till now. Original res is 3000x1500, it takes me about one month to finish. Done in CS3 from the start. I'll be happy to see your commnets and critics.

The Pumpkin King

My Halloween hommage for this year. And a lot of pumpkins.
I love the special atmosphere of this day so I cant leave without some picture. My imagination is again directed to the colonial america, age of first settlers and wich trials. I tried catch the atmosphere of this time in a small village where the children are dancing along some old obscure idol. All creatures are drawn to him to celebrate this night.
I hope you will like the picture as I did painting it.

Baghdad

One of my latest personal works. Peacefull evening in the Baghdad city. I hope that there will be more such a days without the killing. Maybe its slightly optimistic, but i want to paint calm atmosphere.
I played with the light in sligtly different way than on my last pictures. I wanted to paint some reflecting ligt in darker street, but its not easy. I used refrence for the APC Stryker and the characters, hope they look ok.
All done in photoshop as usually+ wacom intuos. Time spend was about 25 hours.

Total War artwork: La rochelle

My artwork for the new project of the creative assembly. The name of the game is Empire: total war. As I love to paint old ships I really enjoyed working on those pictures. This is only first one, the rest is waiting to be published.

The Image captures early mornig mood in huge french harbour La Rochelle, year 1715. The big ship on the left is the grandious Le Louis Quinze, most beatifull and biggest ship of its age. I did try to make the ship as real as possible, reference was the model in naval museum in Paris. The general mood of the picture is maybe similar to some old oils from the 18.th century, that was my small goal.

The whole pic takes about 30-40 hours to finish.

Im hoping that you will like this picture and i'll be happy to see any comments.

Sherlock Holmes

Some personal work after long time.
Im a big fan of A.C Doyle novels so have painted something from his books about Sherlock Holmes. This is my vision of the great detective listening to young lady in need. She had some dark and complicated story for his analytic mind. He had his eyes closed as thinking about the story. I've tried to paint somehow intimate victorian atmosphere.

The picture was quiet hard for me because i've never painted so big characters, so maybe there are some not correct anatomy deails. Thaks to chris, kevin and pawel for help

I will welcome any comments. Only reference was used for sherlock face and the lady costume. all done in photoshop+wacom.

Jerusalem morning

Easter time was a inspiration for this small and quick picture. Lovely sunday morning outside the Jerusalem, some 2000 years ago.
I want to paint this currently troubled land as it should be, the land of milk and honey.
Finished in some 6 hours( two evenings), done from scrach in PS CS 3 beta+wacom.

Italian Caproni bomber. It was one of the best bombers of ww1. I was fascinated how odd and fragile it looks. However there were many brave men who fight in this machines. Done for my relax purely. Thanks for any commnets.

I've seen some nive plane pictures here in the past and they inspired me. I like planes from my childhood but this is a first time that I've paint some.
Its not an classical aviation art, but I hope you will like it. Its a F-4C Phantom from Air Defence Command squadron, based on Iceland. So I want to catch the hard weather conditions in which the planes have operated.
Those Phantoms were assigned with the defending of the norhern atlantic.
Done in Photoshop CS3 Beta + intuos3 , with the help of some custom brushes. Refs used, some photos of plane and 3d model for perspective.

Republic cruiser

My first star wars picture. One of my favourite ships from this universe. Its not very well-known, maybe because it was seen only for some seconds at the beginig of episode one. But i think the design of it is great. Corellian diplomatic cruiser, lost years ago on some dark planet. I hope I can make some story about it, maybe connected with some other SW pics in the future.
Strarted as a quick pic, but somehow i started to play with details so it was about 30+hours at the end.

Wacom intuos+photoshop as always.

Im trying to learn how to paint a light So this is a rather quick sketch for me (9hours). So its not as detailed,i want to keep it more rough, but the main focus is only light. I have some reference photos for the architecture. and basic colors.

The Great Armada

In the summer of 1588, one hundred and thirty ships carrying 30,000 men set out to conquer England.This is my vision of the glorious moment when the fleet is leaving Lisbon. In the foreground is the flagship San Martin. Ships design is based on reference plans that I could find on net. But its not much there about those spanish galleons of this age. So I must use my imagination

All is done in photoshop, +wacom, in about 20-30 hours

Space Marines Assault

My 2nd homage to the warhammer world, especcially to space marines. It captures the fierce attack of blood angels. I want that everything in this picture is red, like the name of this marine chapter. So you can check the result. Iam not 100% sure about the marking so there can by some errors. Finished 3 months ago, just for fun. Design of vehicles comes from WH40K world. Done in photoshop in about 35 hours.

Terra 30000

My first picture from the warhammer world. This is the final fight between imperial forces against the chaos invasion. One of the last battle Titans resists the innumerable masses of the traitors legions. The earth is undergoing its darkest hours.
With this picture I try to catch the dark and powerfull atmosphere of warhammer world. Hope you like it, but im new in this world and some things can be a little bit wrong.
Refs from variuos photos from net. The designs are probably not 100% offical, but Its hard to find anything reliable about titans.
Time to finish, too much.

Halloween In Belfast

The hallowen evening in Northern Ireland. This picture captures my memories and feelings of Belfast, the troubled city. Of course I am too young to see the worst years of civil disorder, so the burning vehicle is inspired from the photos. But everything else, especially the weather is exactly such as I remember.. I use some photos of the city and the vehicle to create this picture. All work done by Photoshop 5 + wacom intuos 3.

German Christmas

I try to show the melancholic atmosphere when the germans finaly knew that WWII is lost. I like the german tanks especially the tiger, so here it is.
